Chili with Red Pepper Paste

Recipes Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Large onion (Chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Ziyad Brand Red Pepper Paste (Mild or hot)
  • 2 tsp Ziyad Brand Ground Cumin
  • 2 tsp Ziyad Brand Seven Spice Blend
  • 1 tsp Ziyad Brand Chili Flakes
  • 2 lbs Ground beef
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 2 15 oz Cans of kidney beans
  • 1 28 oz Can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 Red bell pepper (Chopped)
  • Garnish with Ziyad Brand Yogurt, chopped onions, cheddar cheese, jalapeños and a sprinkling of cilantro


Step 1

Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring, until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Add the red pepper paste and spices. Cook, stirring for a minute.

Step 2

Add the beef, salt and a few grinds of pepper and continue to cook, stirring until no longer pink, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the beans, tomatoes, 1 cup of water or adjust to the consistency you like. Bring to a simmer and cook, lower the heat and stir occasionally, until thickened, 35 to 45 minutes. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Step 3

Garnish with your favourite toppings.
